Brazilian Singer-Songwriter Martha Luizza Set to Expand Brasil Na Lata Nationwide and Abroad for Summer 2016
Highly Charged Performance to Incorporate Multiple Musical Styles and Influences from Each Corner of Brazil
NEW YORK, Aug. 18, 2014— Martha Luizza, best known for headlining several highly energized carnival-themed events, has created a fully customizable musical performance titled Brasil Na Lata to highlight and introduce the vast musical styles and influences throughout Brazil to national and international audiences next summer. Luizza will include not only cover versions of popular Brazilian songs that pay tribute to artists like Bebel Giberto, Caetano Veloso, Daniela Mercury, Gilberto Gil, and Luiz Gonzaga but also those from Luizza’s debut album Vem pra Ca.
Luizza and her team will customize Brasil Na Lata to fit each venue’s individual style and capacity. Whether a low-key cabaret, a beach-side retreat, or a concert hall that seats thousands, each venue will find a package to suit its needs. Brasil Na Lata’s largest package will fuse multiple musical styles—such as bossa nova, axe, samba, and pop—with various dance routines, capoeira acrobatics, and the colors of carnival.

About Martha Luizza:
Martha Luizza—born Marta Luiza de Andrade Cardoso in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais—is a singer-songwriter known for her ability to balance the sounds of samba, the acrobatics of capoeira, and the colors of carnival in each performance. With its creative mix of samba, reggae, and salsa, the Bahia-based band Olodum ranks among her top musical influences from Brazil. Like Olodum, Bahia’s culture radiates through Luizza’s music with a cool, harmonically complex blend of bossa nova, axe, and pop.
Since 2001, Luizza has performed at some of the top venues in South Florida, such as Nikki Beach, Revolution Live, and Club Cinema. In 2006, she co-wrote the song “Perfume de Mar”—translated as “Scent of the Sea” in English—with her friend Joao Carlos Serra. The pair placed third for best Brazilian song of the year at Miami’s MPB Festival.
Luizza’s producer Felipe Tchauer has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Paulin Rubio, Mana, Christina Aguilera, and Beyoncé. Raul Abramzon, who translated the work of Grammy Award-winning Brazilian singer and composer Roberto Carlos, has named Luizza’s music “The new Brazilian flavor.”
In addition to her many accomplishments, Luizza recently attended the New York Film Academy and is now developing several new singles and music videos in both English and Portuguese.
Luizza is currently performing at various venues throughout the New Jersey and New York area. As a part of her newly designed show Brasil Na Lata, Luizza will deliver a unique twist to her upbeat, percussive single “Vem pra Ca,” which has proved to be a fan favorite.

FAQs
Q1. How old were you when you started your music career?
A. I started singing in church at 5 years old but didn’t discover myself as a singer until I was 16.
Q2. What is the best advice you have ever received in regard to your music career?
A. One time when Ivete Sangalo was recording one of her albums in New York’s Madison Square Garden, I met one of her musicians—maestro Letieres Leite—at an after party where I mentioned to him that I wanted to quit music because it was a tough business to which he replied, “Don't ever quit and music won’t quit you. If you have the passion inside you, you will never let it die. Do it for the love of the music.” At that moment, it was quite uplifting to hear this from him.
Q3. What was the inspiration for Brasil NaLata?
A. Brazilian music is very diverse and I wanted to be able to incorporate a little taste of all of Brazil’s best musical flavors into my show.
Q4. What sets Brasil NaLata apart from other performances?
A. The music’s diversity sets Brasil NaLata apart and my ability to introduce other delicious genres that the world has little or no knowledge of yet.
Q5. How many performers/musicians participate in Brasil NaLata?
A. It depends on how many people each venue can accommodate and the size of its stage. We can also produce a more intimate sound with just three musicians if requested.
